Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect your name, email address, username, password, and any other details you choose to provide.
Genealogical Data: You may choose to input genealogical information such as family relationships, historical records, photos, memories, and other content related to your family history.
Facial and Biometric Data: The app may process face data in two optional ways, both initiated exclusively by the user:
Ethnicity Analysis: If you use the Ethnicity Analysis feature, you may upload or take a single photo of your face. This photo is sent to our backend server (gw1.family-find.com) and analyzed using the open-source DeepFace library running on our own servers hosted in the USA (DigitalOcean). The photo is processed in memory only, is not written to disk or database, and is not transmitted to any third-party service. Only the derived estimates (age and ethnicity probabilities) are returned to the app and shown to you. The photo is discarded immediately after the estimate is generated and is not retained.
AI Photo Generation (Baby Generator, Restore Old Photos, Colorize Your Photos): If you use AI photo generation features, you may upload one or two photos. These photos are sent to our backend server and then forwarded to Google LLC (Gemini API, model gemini-2.5-flash-image) for one-time image generation. Input photos are not stored on our servers or by Google after the request completes. Only the generated image is returned to you. Before your photos are sent to Google, you will be asked to provide explicit consent.
Surname Analysis: The Surname Map feature uses OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini) for text-based surname analysis only. No photos or face data are involved in this feature.
Face data is not used for advertising, tracking, profiling, or identification of individuals outside the app.
Communication Data: If you contact us for support, we may collect the content of those communications, including your email address and any other details you share.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with our Services, including your IP address, device type, browser information, and your activity in the app.
Non-personal data refers to information that does not identify you directly. This includes:
Device Information: Type of device you use, operating system, app version, and crash data.
Location Data: General location data based on your IP address or GPS data if you allow location tracking.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance user experience, analyze usage trends, and improve the functionality of our Services.
We use the data we collect for the following purposes:
Provide and Improve Services: To enable the core features of the app, such as building your family tree, ethnicity analysis, AI photo tools, and accessing historical records. We may also use your data to improve app functionality and features.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. However, we may share your information in the following circumstances:
With Other Users: If you share genealogical data, photos, or family tree information with other users, that data may be visible to those users. You control the visibility of your data through the privacy settings in your account.
Third-Party AI Service Providers: Certain AI features in the app involve the following third-party services:
Google LLC (Gemini API): Photos you upload for AI photo generation features (Baby Generator, Restore Old Photos, Colorize Your Photos) are processed by Google LLC. Input photos are not retained after the request is completed. Google's privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini): Surname text data (no photos) is processed by OpenAI for the Surname Map feature. OpenAI's privacy policy is available at https://openai.com/privacy.
Your explicit consent is obtained before any photos are transmitted to third-party AI services. You may withdraw your consent at any time via Settings > Manage Consent within the app.
Service Providers: We may share data with trusted third-party service providers who help us run our app, such as hosting services, payment processors, or analytics companies. These providers are required to maintain the confidentiality and security of your data.
Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a legal request, such as a subpoena, or to protect our rights, the rights of others, or the safety of the public.
Business Transfers: If we merge, acquire, or are sold to another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. In such cases, we will ensure that the new entity adheres to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
We take the security of your personal data seriously and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include encryption, firewalls, secure servers, and access controls. Our servers are hosted in the USA on DigitalOcean infrastructure. However, please be aware that no security system is entirely foolproof, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or as required by law. Specific retention periods for face and photo data are as follows:
Ethnicity Analysis photos: processed in memory and discarded immediately after the estimate is returned; not persisted to disk or database.
AI photo generation input photos (Baby Generator, Restore Old Photos, Colorize Your Photos): discarded immediately after the request completes; not retained on our servers.
Generated AI portraits: returned to the user in the app; input photos are not retained.
If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data. Some information may remain in our archives for legal reasons.
The app uses the AppTrackingTransparency framework in accordance with Apple's requirements. Before any data that could be used to track you across apps or websites is collected, you will be shown a permission request. You may grant or deny this permission at any time. If you deny permission, no tracking data will be collected. You may change your preference at any time in your device Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
You have certain rights regarding your personal data. These may include:
Access: You can request access to the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: You can update or correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
Deletion: You can request that we delete your personal data, subject to any legal obligations we may have.
Opt-Out: You can opt out of receiving promotional communications from us by following the unsubscribe instructions in those communications.
Data Portability: You can request a copy of your personal data in a commonly used, machine-readable format.
Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw your consent to third-party AI data processing at any time via Settings > Manage Consent within the app.

We use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about how you interact with our Services, such as browsing behavior, device information, and language preferences. You can manage cookie preferences through your device or browser settings. Please note that disabling certain cookies may impact the functionality of our app.
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under 13. Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may only use the App with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under the age of 13, we will take steps to delete that information as soon as possible.
Your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, where we or our service providers operate. Specifically, AI photo generation data is processed by Google LLC in accordance with Google's data processing terms. Surname analysis data is processed by OpenAI. Our servers are located in the USA. By using the Services, you consent to such international transfers.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy within the app. We encourage you to periodically review this policy to stay informed about how we protect your privacy.
